Life has become a daily nightmare for residents of Awolumate Zone 3 Community in Ile-Ife, Osun State who at the weekend raised the alarm about the activities of Chinese miners.
They lamented that a large portion of land close to residential buildings had been dug out by the miners with as many as 20 houses now at risk of collapse due to the activities of the miners.
Chairman of the community, Abimbola Olafare, has called on the Osun State government to intervene and stop the mining activities which he said, has exposed the community residents to hazards.
Olafare said while speaking with the media revealed that no agreement was signed between them and the Chinese miners before they commenced work in the area even as he narrated that an old woman fled from her home because of the activities of these miners.
“We never consented to them working in our community. Security agents and government should come to our aid.”
